As a global leader manufacturer in the Aerosol and Dispensing Packaging business, we at Coster consider Sustainability with the highest importance and our responsibility towards all stakeholders both internal and outside our factories.

Our commitment to environment, social and ethical practices, continuously invests in culture and education, infrastructure, technology, innovation and tangible initiatives both at single facilities and at Group level.

The Sustainability and Social Responsibility Group function translates the Governance strategies and policies into assessments, Material action plans, objectives, metrics, monitoring and Accountable reporting.
The Sustainable Model adopted by Coster Group is certified ISO 26000, thus complying with the requirement of these Guidelines for the seven core subjects of Social Responsibility. DOWNLOAD CERTIFICATE

The Coster Sustainability Report

In the framework of the structured approach to Sustainability, based on commitment and accountability, Coster has issued its second Sustainability Report to disclose non-financial information. The Report complies with the GRI Standards – Core Level, in order to provide a transparent and modular reporting on economic, environmental and social impacts “material” for Coster.

The Coster Ethical Code

Coster has issued and spread its Ethical Code  in the corporate and through the Supply Chain, for the purpose of providing a set of commonly agreed values and principles which reflect Coster commitment towards conducting business responsibly.
The foundations of our beliefs are the fair and integrity business, the respect of human rights that also reflects the commitment to continuously enhance the life in the workplace, Safety, health and environment protection.

EcoVadis CSR Assessment

Coster regularly join EcoVadis to assess the integration of the CSR principles into the business and management system and gain evidence-based Sustainability rating



The Environment

Six manufacturing facilities operate according to the ISO 14001 certified environmental management system. Coster renew the participation to CDP Program relevant to Climate Change and Water footprint. Coster also pursue the reduction of its environmental footprint by working on the following levers:

Energy efficiency

Energy Management Systems: in 2018 the facility Costertec joined Costerplast and Coster3 gaining the ISO 50001 certification, with significant increase of energy efficiency

Injection molding: Coster pushes ahead the installation program for electric injection molding machines. The benefit is 50% reduction of energy consumption compared to the hydraulic ones

Lighting: more than 50% of the alogens has been replaced with LED lighting systems, with a 65% reduction of energy consumption

Technology: continuous investments on air compressor plants, cooling systems, industrial building automation, energy recovery systems

Renewable resources: about 68% of electric power is supplied from renewable sources – Electric Energy from Nature

Supply Chain

Transport: Coster works on inbound & outbound logistics optimization, on logistics partnership with client implementation, redesigning the transport solutions replacing road haulage with bimodal haulage road + railway. The reorganization of production has led to industrial optimization, reduction of transport reduction and strengthening of local affairs

Packaging: Coster works to achieve greater efficiency in the packaging of valves and pumps with the objective to reduce the use of cardboard box from 10% to 25% and introducing recycled materials. Weight reduction initiatives are in place with regards to stretch film and boxes. New packaging solutions have been introduced such as reusable plastic pallets (pallbox)

Sustainable procurement: Coster promotes its credo to all suppliers, adopting evaluation practices towards Sustainability and CSR themes, encourages suppliers to increase performances in these areas and find alternative sources where deemed sustainable

The Sustainable Procurement Model adopted by Coster Group has obtained the certification ISO 20400 – DOWNLOAD CERTIFICATE


Coster invests in sustainable innovation and research. R&D is constantly engaged in designing products with strong input to use compliant and recyclable materials, reduce weight, dimensions and number of components, and find sustainable packaging solutions.

A strong focus is put on products development using bio-plastics and Post Consumer Recycled polyolefin.

Eco-design is a key pillar, supported by LCA tools and EPD ecolabels under preparation.

Partnerships are in place with Polymer Science Park for Sustainable Innovation in injection molding.

Paper Policy

Paper is still widely used in the processes and in the work environment at Coster. Our company has to be aware of the environmental impact of paper production, in order to contribute to saving the planet’s ecosystem.

Waste management & recycling

Packaging takes on a great responsibility in terms of environmental footprint. Coster aim at an important reduction of the environmental impact:

  • Arrangement of new and confined ecological areas in all facilities, management of waste flow from collection to disposal and identification of containers
  • Significant landfill reduction and increase of clean recovery by conferring the packaging waste of mixed materials to companies that carry out the grinding and separation of materials
  • Participation to sectoral initiatives to study the present and future waste disposal scenarios, like the Plastic Aerosol Recycling Special Industry Group (Petcore Europe), the Aerosol Recycling workgroup created by the CFA (Comité Français des Aérosols, member of the FEA).

The Social Responsibility


People are at the centre of Coster’s policies and strategies. Coster firmly believes and counts on people value, therefore is strongly committed to safeguard the human rights, guarantee the best working conditions as well as the labor practices, be active for collectivity by finding ways to do good.

Safety is a strategy pillar: continuous investments in all necessary measures supporting the prevention and protection system. Two manufacturing facilities have obtained the certification for the Occupational Health and safety management System standard OHSAS 18001.

Coster pursues the monitoring and transparency targets by continuing the voluntary program of SMETA IV Pillars audits and assessment of the group companies commissioned to an external notified body.

The Company adopts the Organizational Model according to Italian Decree 231/01 and promotes the guidelines through the Group in order to dissuade offensive behaviors, to promote correctness and honesty in company against any possible conflicts of interest, to promote accurate and prompt reporting to Regulatory Authorities, to assure the respect of the Law by implementing a formal whistleblowing procedure with involvement of supervision bodies relevant to violations of the Code.

Welfare initiatives are varied in the facilities, as well as activities for the benefit of all citizens consisting in different sponsorships, patronage and support to voluntary service.

A program to launch initiatives directed to external communities is targeted to support EDUCATION AND SCHOOLING according to the specific territorial context, like including aiding the access to education to disadvantaged people supporting high-tech and innovation centers, specialized institutes, promoting scholarships for unprivileged students.

Training is the common way broadly adopted by Coster to create culture, spread awareness and enhance skills.
